Record-breaking year at Roland Garros Airport

Pre-pandemic Check-in Levels Surpassed

Réunion’s Roland Garros Airport had an outstanding 2023, hosting nearly 2.7 million passengers, surpassing the pre-pandemic 2019 record of 2,689,954.

Despite ongoing COVID-19 challenges, Réunion’s air traffic rebounded by 14.7 %, with transit passengers rising by 42 %, driven by Corsair customers flying between France and the Indian Ocean islands.

Compared to 2019, air traffic between France and La Réunion increased by 7.1 %, totaling 1.5 million passengers. Internationally, over 51,500 passengers from Bangkok marked a significant 21 % rise. Regional traffic in 2023 nearly recovered despite health restrictions, with Indian Ocean route passengers up by around 40 % (2022) and 10 % (2019).

In contrast, flights between Réunion and Madagascar experienced a 15 % decline due to challenges faced by Madagascar Airlines, which ceased operations to the department in November.
