Advancing women’s entrepreneurship

On Tuesday, March 19, women entrepreneurs who submitted their projects for the National Women Entrepreneur Award 2024 received their participation certificates during an official ceremony at the National Women Development Centre in Phoenix.

This event is organized by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare in collaboration with the National Women Entrepreneur Council (NWEC). Present at the ceremony were the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Kalpana Koonjoo-Shah, the president of NWEC, Françoise Maréchal, and other dignitaries.

Kalpana Koonjoo-Shah underscores that the competition aims to foster the development of women’s entrepreneurial capabilities. She congratulates all participants for their projects and underscores the significant contribution of women entrepreneurs to the country’s socio-economic development. The government places substantial emphasis on human capital development.

Empowering women entrepreneurs is among the government’s top priorities, reassures the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare. She also highlights that women entrepreneurs possess the potential to expand their businesses regionally and internationally, offering long-term benefits.
