DGI eases tax burdens during Ramadan

Tax payment postponed: Additional deadline until April

The Director General of Taxes, Ahmed Djaffar, announced on March 1 a postponement of the tax payment deadline, usually set for March 31, to April.

This decision aims to ease the burden on citizens during the holy month of Ramadan, so that they can better prepare for the Eid festival. « This measure will allow citizens to better focus on the end of Ramadan and better manage expenses related to the Eid festival », explained the DG. No penalties will be imposed on late payers.

Ahmed Djaffar also specified that, during this month, no store closures will be carried out by the management. However, those who wish to pay their taxes before the deadline will be able to do so, the doors of the DGI being open to taxpayers.

The official also reviewed the performance of the DGI, which recorded tax revenues of 12 billion francs (26.67 million USD) in 2023 and 14.4 billion in 2024. The objective for 2025 is to reach 19 billion francs. In order to facilitate access to tax services, he announced the upcoming opening of new sub-directorates in Mitsamihuli, Fumbuni, Ikoni and Kwambani in Ngazidja, as well as in several localities in Ndzuani and Mwali.

This initiative is part of the measures taken by the government to support citizens and traders, in addition to the guarantee fund set up to alleviate their situation.
