Alstom announces the appointment of Thabiso Komako as Managing Director of Alstom Ubunye, South Africa, effective April 1, 2025. In this role, Komako is responsible for managing the Nigel site, which specializes in the production of mechanical and electrical components for trains and locomotives, as well as maintenance and digital solutions for rolling stock.
Komako, an industrial engineer by training, brings more than 20 years of experience in the rail sector. Prior to joining Alstom, the new Managing Director held the position of Rolling Stock Operations Executive at Gibela Rail Transport Consortium, where he played a key role in the transformation and modernization of rail operations in South Africa.
Under his leadership, Alstom Ubunye continues its mission to strengthen the country’s and region’s rail infrastructure while supporting innovation and technical excellence. This appointment marks a shift for the company in South Africa, as it continues to develop sustainable, high-quality solutions for the rail sector, contributing to the country’s economic and technological development.
