During the Council of Ministers on January 22, 2025, Lionel Essono Ondo was dismissed from his position as Director General of the Gabonese Strategic Investment Fund (FGIS) after three weeks in office. He is replaced by Serge Brice Ngodjou.
Ngodjou takes the helm of the FGIS in a delicate economic context, marked by the need for Gabon to diversify its revenue sources due to its heavy dependence on the oil sector. As the manager of the sovereign fund, the FGIS plays a central role in the country’s economic transformation strategy.
Its objective is to implement initiatives capable of generating sustainable revenues and strengthening the resilience of the national economy.
Serge Brice Ngodjou is thus tasked with leading this strategic transition and ensuring the sustainability of investments aimed at boosting Gabon’s economy.
