On February 13, 2025, in Cotonou, Benin, Chadian economist Nguéto Tiraina Yambaye was elected president of the African Banking and Financial Institutions Executives Club (CDBEFA). This appointment recognizes an outstanding record of commitment to the economic development of the continent.
Since 2020, Nguéto Tiraina Yambaye has been the Head of the African Guarantee and Economic Cooperation Fund (FAGACE). His leadership helped to reform the institution, thereby boosting African economies’ financing capacity. Under his leadership, FAGACE has mobilized more than 4.5 trillion cfa (7.5 billion USD at constant exchange rates) to support member states, consolidating its position as a key player in economic development in Africa.
With more than 25 years of experience, Yambaye has held several strategic positions, including Minister of Economy, Planning and Development of Chad. This brilliant economist also served as a director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), helping to shape major economic policies.
His election as Chairman of the CDBEFA reflects his desire to strengthen cooperation between African financial institutions. By fostering close cooperation and introducing innovative financing mechanisms, it hopes to create solid economic opportunities for the continent.
