Prince Said Ibrahim Airport under Emirati management in May

A new investment for the Comoros

This May, Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport (Aimpsi) and Com’Air Assistance will officially be managed by Terminals Holding Group, an Emirati company, under a 30-year concession.

The announcement was made by Maamoune Chakira, Director of Airports of the Comoros, who confirmed that the takeover will take effect on May 1, 2025. This information was shared by Nour El Fath Azali, elected representative for the Hambu constituency, during the parliamentary session on April 4. According to him, “the takeover of the airport was delayed by several administrative steps, but things are now on track.”

Abu Dhabi-based Terminals Holding Group plans to invest 100 million USD between 2025 and 2027 to modernize the airport’s infrastructure in preparation for the Indian Ocean Island Games, which will be held in the Comoros in 2027.

The takeover also raises questions among Aimpsi and Com’Air Assistance employees, particularly regarding the future of their jobs. The government has implemented a social plan since 2023, and Maamoune Chakira has assured that this plan will be adjusted as needed, ensuring that labor laws are respected.
