Renovation Work on the Airport Completed

Mayotte’s airport, closed following the passage of Cyclone Chido, will resume its activities on January 1, 2025. During his visit to the archipelago, Prime Minister François Bayrou made this announcement. Thus, airlines will be able to restart their commercial flights.

On Monday, December 30, 2024, the Prime Minister announced the resumption of commercial operations at the airport, scheduled for Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Consequently, Air Austral is now in a position to announce the resumption of its flights to and from the « Island of Perfumes ». To ensure its success, this reopening will be under certain conditions that guarantee its smooth operation. Marcel Henry International Airport suffered significant damage following Cyclone CHIDO. The control tower was destroyed.

The renovation work on the airport is now completed. According to the Prime Minister’s announcement, commercial flights will gradually resume from January 1, 2025, under strict conditions to ensure their success. Entry to the airports is strictly restricted to passengers with a valid plane ticket on the day of departure. Customers can also visit Corsair agencies located in Réunion Island and Mamoudzou in Mayotte.
