Simplifying trade transactions
Aiming to modernize customs to increase efficiency and boost economic growth, Madagascar’s Customs has launched the « Mandroso » project.
This is an awareness program on customs standards, supported by USAID through the UNDP. The program’s goal is to inform economic actors about customs regulations to improve transparency and efficiency. It aims to reach approximately 2,000 beneficiaries, including importers, exporters, and customs agents.
Training sessions will cover various topics, from customs clearance procedures to the criteria of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), including tax exemptions. There will also be a focus on gender integration, encouraging the participation of women.
“« Mandroso », implemented in several cities across the country (Toliara, Antalaha, Toamasina, Antsirabe, Nosy Be, Antsiranana, Mahajanga, Antananarivo), aims to transform Madagascar’s Customs into a major pillar for promoting tax compliance and economic competitiveness. It also encourages greater integration in international relations.
This project is part of a continuous modernization approach, aimed at strengthening the professionalization of customs officers and economic actors. By setting up advisory and support units, Madagascar’s Customs seeks to assist businesses in complying with legal standards while simplifying their trade transactions.
