Airline doubles its presence in the Indian Ocean
ITA Airways is expanding its network by serving Mauritius from Rome. This new route complements its existing offerings in the Indian Ocean, already well-established with the Maldives.
The Italian airline announces a significant step in its expansion. Starting November 7, 2025, the company will connect Rome to Mauritius. Flights will depart from Rome Fiumicino on Fridays and Sundays at 10 PM, arriving in Mauritius at 11:20 AM. In the opposite direction, departures will be on Saturdays and Mondays at 10:10 PM, arriving in Rome at 6:20 AM the following day.
This new route adds to that of the Maldives, further consolidating ITA Airways’ position in the Indian Ocean. The flight will be operated by an Airbus A330-900, offering three classes of service: 30 seats in Business, 24 in Premium Economy, and 237 in Economy.
The company is also continuing a process of fleet renewal, with the gradual phasing out of the Airbus A330-200 and the replacement of the A319 and A320 with A320 neo models. Four new Airbus A330-900s will join the fleet by the end of the year.
The company’s president, Sandro Pappalardo, states: « This route will initially be seasonal for the winter 2025-2026, but could become permanent if demand remains strong ». The long-haul network development will continue, with new announcements expected for 2025.
