ADEMA: 30 Years of Innovation and Development in Tourism

56 Airports to Boost Tourism and Investment in Madagascar

Aéroport de Madagascar (ADEMA) celebrates 30 years of efforts and unveils new projects to strengthen the country’s connectivity and support its tourism development.

Since its establishment in 1989, ADEMA has played a central role in modernizing airport infrastructure, significantly improving Madagascar’s connectivity both regionally and internationally. Today, the island boasts 56 airports, including 46 secondary airports, thanks to major renovation projects in Tuléar, Sainte-Marie, Nosy Be, and Tamatave. These efforts not only support the growth of tourism but also attract foreign investments.

With the goal of reaching 1 million tourists by 2028, ADEMA is implementing several key initiatives, including the opening of new international routes and the expansion of Madagascar Airlines’ fleet. Jean Germain Andrianiana, ADEMA’s CEO, emphasizes that these measures are essential for diversifying tourism flows and ensuring enhanced connectivity. The Minister of Transport, Valéry Ramonjavelo, adds that the modernization of infrastructure will enable 24-hour operations, reducing tourism seasonality, which currently fluctuates between 25 % and 50 %.

At the same time, ADEMA supports its employees through concrete social measures, such as regular salary increases and improved health care coverage. These actions aim to retain staff and ensure high-quality service, a key factor in the success of Madagascar’s air transport development strategy.
