Tourist Arrivals on the Rise in Mauritius

1.1 million tourists by the end of October

With just one month left to conclude 2024, the figures for tourist arrivals have peaked.

In its most recent report on tourist arrivals, Statistics Mauritius mentions that during the first nine months of the year, from January to September, a total of 971,800 tourists chose Mauritius as their holiday destination. This is an increase of 70,674 tourists compared to the previous period.

According to the forecasts of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), tourist arrivals are expected to be around 1.1 million. However, we need to wait for Statistics Mauritius’s report to get the exact number of visitors.

From January to September 2023, the number of holiday tourists was 892,633 compared to 949,800 for the same period in 2024. Similarly, tourist arrivals by sea have recorded a significant increase, rising from 8,493 in January to September 2023 to 22,319 for the same period in 2024.

Among the tourist distributions by country, we have France (228,745), England (111,498), Reunion (98,026), Germany (89,391), South Africa (74,218), and India (41,941).
