Goal : 1 million tourists in the next four years
Aligned with the State’s General Policy (PGE) for human development, the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts (MTA) aims to harmonize progress across Madagascar’s 24 regions.
During a workshop dedicated to skills development in tourism professions, Minister Viviane Dewa highlighted the ministry’s commitment to providing training throughout the country’s regions. This initiative aligns with the ambitious goal of welcoming 1 million tourists within the next four years.
The Minister acknowledged persistent gaps in the sector, as specialized training centers are often inaccessible due to resource constraints. However, providing quality hospitality to tourists requires expertise acquired through structured learning. The workshop brought together various industry trainers and involved collaboration with the Ministries of National Education and Technical and Vocational Education.
According to the Consortium of National Institutions for Training in Tourism and Hospitality, the initiative seeks to establish coordinated efforts in training across tourism, hospitality, and catering sectors. The objectives include enhancing tourist reception quality, increasing the number of trainers, and effectively utilizing donor funding to achieve meaningful outcomes.
