Tourism and Handicrafts : Developing Human Capital

Showcasing traditional expertise

During her visit to southern Madagascar, Viviane Dewa, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, awarded 2,566 certificates and completion attestations to professionals in the tourism sector and local artisans.

The Minister aims to highlight that human capital development is central to her department’s initiatives. All these efforts align with the state’s general policies. She emphasized improving human capital and strengthening local skills while promoting sustainable and inclusive development.

As part of the PIC 3 project, over 2,500 participants from the Atsimo Andrefana region benefited from the Miatrika program, which offers training across 15 modules. These training sessions cover key areas such as service methods, tourism management, and foreign language development, particularly in French and English. Additionally, Art Lanto Design awarded certificates to 120 artisans trained in luxury basketry.

These initiatives play a vital role in enhancing the skills of local stakeholders in the tourism and handicrafts sectors. They promote traditional expertise and improve service quality in these fields.
