Customs Regulation: Air Mauritius extends its partnership with CHAMP Cargo systems
To comply with the new Import Control System 2 (ICS2) regulation of the European Union (EU) starting this June, Air Mauritius is expanding its partnership with CHAMP Cargosystems.
As a key player in the Mauritian tourism sector, Air Mauritius joins the air freight community preparing to adopt the EU’s new customs regulation, affirming its commitment to strengthening the local economy and establishing connections with the rest of the world, particularly through air freight transport.
Having already used CHAMP’s Traxon Global Customs (TGC) for certain countries, Air Mauritius has extended its global contract, including the European Union. Indeed, air freight and postal shipments routed to or via EU member states must comply with the new ICS2 regulation, as failure to meet these requirements can lead to penalties or unwanted delays.
Thanks to TGC, Air Mauritius can automatically provide necessary advance customs information quickly and easily, thus reducing the risks of holdups or fines. By keeping its operations up-to-date and implementing ICS2, Air Mauritius positions itself at the forefront of innovation regarding new customs regulations, regardless of the countries involved.
Laurent Recoura and Nicholas Xenocostas, respectively Chief Commercial Officer of Air Mauritius and CHAMP Cargosystems, expressed their satisfaction regarding the importance of this partnership expansion.
« Air Mauritius is updating its booking systems to meet EU customs requirements thanks to our expanded partnership with CHAMP Cargosystems. This is one of Air Mauritius’ initiatives aimed at providing the best service to our customers », said Laurent Recoura.
« We are delighted to extend our collaboration with Air Mauritius and contribute to connecting the airline with the rest of the world. Thanks to Traxon Global Customs, Air Mauritius will have a reliable solution supporting its sorting operations, regardless of the changes introduced. », said Nicholas Xenocostas.
