Partnership between Orange MEA and Tencent Cloud

Creating a unique digital ecosystem in Africa

Orange Middle East and Africa (OMEA) and Tencent Cloud solidified their strategic alliance at the Mobile World Congress (MWC).

As a global technology leader, Tencent’s cloud services enhance the ecosystem and service offerings of the super-application Max it, benefiting businesses and populations across the region. The collaboration between Orange MEA and Tencent Cloud focuses on integrating Tencent Cloud’s Mobility framework and Tencent Cloud Mini Program Platform (TCMPP) solution. The objective is to establish an open platform for Max it, facilitating the seamless integration of a diverse range of mini-apps within the super-application.

Drawing from Tencent’s successful experience with the Weixin/WeChat ecosystem, which boasts over 1.1 billion monthly mini-program users, this partnership enables Orange MEA to harness Tencent Cloud’s technological expertise.

In the latter half of 2024, OMEA plans to incorporate mini-app technology through its Digital Factory gradually. The objective is to provide access to its platform to approximately a hundred global and local partners to double the adoption of its super-application by 2025. The collaboration with Tencent Cloud is a critical component of OMEA’s vision to cultivate a unique African digital ecosystem with Max it, fostering inclusivity and accessibility for all digital and content stakeholders to make the world more accessible to customers.

Moreover, OMEA is committed to nurturing entrepreneurship through this partnership by empowering startups, merchants, and large companies to develop customized mini-apps tailored to the specific needs of each country.
