Miary Digital : Funding boost for Malagasy startups

Advancing digital innovation in Madagascar

The Miary Digital project is a crucial element of the Economic Transformation Program aimed at fostering inclusive growth (Pic 3). As part of this initiative, 43 Malagasy startups will each receive a 15,000 USD grant to help bring their innovative ideas to life.

These startups were chosen from a pool of 271 applicants and have received extensive support in areas such as digital entrepreneurship, business plan development, project management, corporate finance, and marketing. Many of these startups hail from the Orange Digital Center Madagascar incubator, which serves as the primary partner of the Miary Digital program, alongside NextA and Zafy Tody.

The program is managed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Digital Development, Posts, and Telecommunications (MNDPT), and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC). Its primary objective is to promote digital innovation in Madagascar, a sector recognized as a key driver of economic growth.

The first cohort, based in the Analamanga region, is notable for the diversity of its supported projects, which span areas such as Edtech, Agritech, Fintech, Gaming, and e-commerce. It’s worth noting that the « Digital » sector is an emerging field with significant economic potential, bolstered by initiatives like Pic 3.
