Digital for all: 664,000 devices soon to be distributed

A new digital era dawns for the Malagasy people

The Malagasy government has officially launched the “Affordable Digital Devices” component of the DECIM Fund.

With a budget of 24 million USD, 664,000 connected digital devices will be distributed across Madagascar. Among these, 400,000 are reserved for women and girls, to promote their access to education, information, and economic empowerment. “What good is digital technology if it remains out of reach of those who need it most?” declared the Minister of Digital Development, Stéphanie Delmotte.

This program is part of a broader development vision. The DECIM Fund, which has a total of 97 million USD, also finances the electrification of two million people, the installation of mini-grids in isolated areas, and the distribution of off-grid solar solutions.

The goal is to build a more connected, more equitable, and more resilient country. Thanks to this initiative, women will be able to launch income-generating activities, young girls will have access to online education, and digital public services will be improved in rural areas,” added the Minister.

Stéphanie Delmotte called on interested companies to respond to the call for applications, which will open on April 22, to participate in building a more inclusive digital future for all Malagasy people.
