Government commits to supporting all stakeholders
The Head of State reaffirmed the government’s determination to support all stakeholders involved in strengthening the digital economy.
President Azali Assoumani expressed his satisfaction with the progress made since the second edition, particularly within the existing digital ecosystem, which now ranks the Comoros 25th on the African continent. The opening of the third Digital Economy Fair concluded on Tuesday, November 19, at the Palais du Peuple, with several notable figures in attendance, including the President of the Republic.
On this occasion, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Crafts (CCIA) expressed gratitude to the government and all entities within the Comorian digital sector for their efforts to promote this industry. Ali Idjihad highlighted the enthusiasm of young people for social media and called for a comprehensive policy to enhance security in the digital sphere.
Youssouf Abdoulmadjid, director of Comor’lab, presented the work accomplished during the three-day event. The Minister of National Education took the opportunity to emphasize to the audience that the digital sector accounts for 15 % of the public budget and 12 % of the GDP. He underscored the importance of guiding young people in this field and supporting them in mastering artificial intelligence, which has become a key tool in today’s world.
The winners of the first cyber hackathon competition received their awards. President Assoumani, through a guided tour of the various stands set up for this third edition, marked the end of the ceremony.
