Computer donation : Promoting digital inclusion and education

Enhancing employment opportunities through digital tools

The Information and Communication Technology Authority (ICTA) has donated personal computers to the non-governmental organization Caritas La Caz Lespwar Solitude.

On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, a ceremony was held in Solitude, Triolet, attended by the Minister of Labor, Soodesh Satkam Callichurn, along with Sharvanand Ramkaun, Private Parliamentary Secretary (PPS); Dick Christophe Ng Sui Wa, Chairman of ICTA; Isabelle Leclézio, Vice President of La Caz Lespwar, Caritas Solitude; and other dignitaries.

In his opening speech, Minister Callichurn highlighted the importance of digital tools in improving education and promoting digital inclusion for vulnerable communities. He emphasized the significance of these tools for personal development and their ability to significantly enhance opportunities for both children and adults. The government’s involvement extends beyond donations, as free training programs will be included in these initiatives. This will help individuals acquire the necessary skills to improve employment opportunities. The minister also acknowledged the commitment of Caritas La Caz Lespwar Solitude and other organizations that provide support to address social realities.

He noted that such initiatives play a crucial role in shaping responsible and skilled individuals who can contribute to the country’s economic growth. This event also marked a step towards more extensive digital literacy and inclusion initiatives across the island.
