Encouraging residents to pay taxes
For the second half of the year, the Municipal Sanitation Company (SMA) is set to enhance waste management. This initiative was outlined during a recent review of sanitation efforts in the city of Antananarivo.
Colonel Tiana Razafimanahaka, General Manager of the SMA, explained that effective actions are being implemented in collaboration with the municipality to manage domestic waste. He emphasized that this effort will involve increasing the number of dump truck drivers and vehicles. While there used to be 150 trips a day for the dump trucks, the company has decided to increase this number to prevent waste accumulation in the city. Fuel consumption for these vehicles is estimated at 3,500 liters for the next three months. The SMA is also encouraging Tananarivians to contribute by paying their taxes, which include household waste taxes, to facilitate daily tasks such as waste collection.
