AMIF inaugurates a project to provide access to drinking water in Ambararatabe

A turning point for the Bongolova region

The inauguration of the drinking water access project in Ambararatabe, in the Bongolova region, on April 10, 2025, marks a turning point for the Ambahatra community.

Led by the Amitié Madagascar Ile de France (AMIF) association, this project benefits 2,265 residents and is part of a long-term commitment to improving living conditions in Madagascar.

This project has enabled the establishment of essential infrastructure, including the capture of three water sources and the installation of 14m3 tanks to ensure a constant supply. Twenty-five standpipes have been installed, facilitating access to water for women and children, thus reducing the daily chore. In addition, wash houses, school latrines, and family latrines have been built to promote hygiene,” announced Denis Briche, President of the association.

Beyond infrastructure, the organization has launched awareness campaigns on responsible water use and hygiene, with the strong involvement of women and children. Local management committees have been formed, ensuring the program’s sustainability.

With 18 years of experience, AMIF stands out for its sustainable approach. In Anjozorobe, nearly 25,000 people already benefit from access to water and sanitation. Its commitment, which goes beyond water, includes initiatives in education, beekeeping, and reforestation, in line with the principles of sustainable development. This project is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributing in particular to SDG 6 on clean water and sanitation.
