Award based on public voting
The head of state is among the personalities designated as African Political Leader of the Year. A public vote will be conducted to determine the winner, which will end on December 12.
In the context of the vote for the African Political Leader of the Year award, Andry Rajoelina, the head of state, is leading with 98% of the votes. He is one of the three African leaders nominated for this award. In addition to politicians, the categories soliciting public votes include the Woman Leader of the Year, African Industrialist of the Year, and Leader in Peace and Security. The annual African Leadership Awards is the first to be awarded based on a public vote.
The candidates are the most remarkable African leaders. These leaders notably encourage radical transformation in the sectors of politics, business, philanthropy, and public health. They have turned Africa’s challenges into opportunities through bold leadership and radical approaches.
Thus, Wavel Ramkalawan, the head of state of Seychelles, and Felix Tshisekedi, his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), are nominated in the category of African Political Leader of the Year. In the list of candidates for the three types of awards, only one Malagasy is on the list. Since the night of November 29, the elections have begun and will be finalized on December 12. According to early trends, President Andry Rajoelina is clearly in the lead.
