Afafi Nord Program : Positive Outcome

Promoting the development of rural agricultural activities

After four years of implementation across various regions of Madagascar, the Agricultural Financing and Inclusive Value Chains Support Program (Afafi) has come to an end.

The program was launched in the southern, central, and northern regions of the country, significantly advancing rural agricultural activities. It also contributed to improving food security and the resilience of local communities. In northern Madagascar, the Afafi-Nord initiative had a particularly notable impact, bringing considerable improvements to the communities in the Sofia, Diana, and Analanjirofo regions.

By modernizing infrastructure, introducing more efficient agricultural practices, and providing access to new equipment, agricultural productivity has increased significantly. This agricultural advancement has also led to improved access to essential services, particularly healthcare and water management, enhancing the resilience of communities in the face of economic and environmental challenges.

One of the key actions of the program was the creation of Community Nutrition Centers (CNCs). This initiative aims to strengthen human capital by offering nutritional and educational support to the most disadvantaged populations. These centers play a crucial role in ensuring the sustainable development of rural communities. Today, thanks to the CNCs established by Afafi Nord, over one hundred children regularly receive healthcare and vaccinations at these centers, resulting in significant improvements in their health and well-being.

The Afafi Nord program, supported by the European Union, highlights a commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth for the benefit of rural inhabitants. Through joint efforts, the European Union and Madagascar are building a more resilient future, implementing solutions tailored to local needs.
