Program supported by the AfDB
The purpose of this year-end meeting was to present the report on 2024 activities while considering the projected budget for planned activities in 2025.
The steering committee of the Road Network Rehabilitation Program (RNRP) assembled to review the progress made. The goal is to validate the activity reports for 2024 and the budget for 2025. The 2025 budget is based on the government’s 2025 annual activity plan, which was approved at the last extended council of ministers meeting the previous month.
The RNRP is a government project of the Comoros and is supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB). The launch of this project took place in 2017, marked by the signing of the first contract (Phase 1).
Phase 2 was signed in 2020, Phase 3 in 2022, and Phase 4 was signed in February 2024. Due to the scale of the roadworks to be restored, it has turned into a comprehensive program. Within the institutional structure of this program, it was decided that the steering committee set up for the evaluation of the program’s work would meet twice a year.
The responsibility for road maintenance directly lies with the government. That is why the president established the road fund, intended to support the Directorate General of Roads and the Ministry of Territorial Planning.
