Emirates Supports Madagascar’s Tourism Ambitions
Following the launch of Emirates flights to Madagascar in September 2024, the airline plans to increase its frequency to six flights per week starting April 2, 2025.
This decision reflects the company’s commitment to promoting the tourism aspirations of the Great Island. By attracting more visitors and showcasing the island destination on the international stage, Emirates aims to support Madagascar’s growing tourism sector. During a press conference yesterday in Antananarivo, organized by the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Tourism, and Emirates, the airline announced the expansion of its operations to meet the increasing demand for passenger services between the capital and Dubai.
Since launching flights last year, Emirates has reported strong demand for passenger services, both inbound and outbound, on the Antananarivo-Dubai route. The current four weekly flights operate at full capacity. Increasing seat availability on this route will support Madagascar’s initiatives to boost visitor arrivals while offering more options and comfort to travelers.
To accommodate seasonal demand, Emirates has increased its services from four to five flights per week. This new frequency represents a significant step in scaling up operations and capacity on this route. “We support the region’s tourism initiative by highlighting the destination through our network, as reflected in the encouraging bookings. We remain committed to showcasing the island’s unique beauty and breathtaking natural landscapes, contributing to sustainable tourism development,” said Essa Sulaiman Ahamad, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Emirates.
With the increase in services to Madagascar, Emirates’ Boeing 777 aircraft provide additional cargo capacity for import-export trade, capable of carrying up to 20 tons of freight per flight in the cargo hold.
