Saint-Benoît: Emergency Tankers Ended, but Water Remains Under Surveillance
The municipality of Saint-Benoît announces the full restoration of its drinking water supply following disruptions caused by Cyclone Garance.
However, although water distribution has returned to normal, authorities report that water quality remains degraded in several areas of the municipality. CIREST recommends that residents affected by the restoration of water supply use bottled water or boil tap water for at least three minutes before any consumption or use for food.
To mark the end of the emergency measures implemented after the cyclone, the tankers deployed in the municipality will be emptied and removed starting this Thursday, March 13, 2025. Similarly, bottled water distribution, which has been in operation since March 9, 2025, will also be suspended as of this date.
CIREST and CISE teams, which have been experiencing major water outages over the past ten days, have mobilized to restore drinking water supplies throughout the municipality. Despite these efforts, water resources remain fragile. The authorities therefore encourage customers to exercise moderation in their daily water consumption.
A municipal decree, Decree 275/2025 of March 9, 2025, imposes water usage restrictions until March 31, 2025. These measures are in place to ensure sustainable water management and avoid any risk of water shortages.
