A Label for Clean Vehicles: MEDD Encourages Best Practices
An awareness campaign on air pollution was held on March 10, 2025, in Andranotapahina, Antananarivo.
The Environmental Judicial Police Officers (OPJE) of the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development (MEDD) are warning drivers about the dangers of exhaust fumes caused by poor vehicle maintenance.
The event brought together several stakeholders, including the Minister of the Environment, Max Andonirina Fontaine, as well as representatives from the General Directorate of Road Safety (DGSR) and the Land Transport Agency (ATT). Authorities emphasize the impact of air pollution on health and the environment. Therefore, they encourage drivers to maintain their vehicles regularly.
Additionally, a new feature of this campaign is a special marking assigned to well-maintained cars. This label, visible on vehicles, helps distinguish responsible drivers and encourages others to follow their example. Furthermore, this initiative is not limited to Andranotapahina. The MEDD plans to organize other campaigns throughout the country.
