AMIF activates its projects in Madagascar

New infrastructure for the population

The AMIF Association (Amitié Madagascar Île-de-France) is preparing a new humanitarian mission to Madagascar from April 4 to 18, 2025.

For 18 years, this organization has been working to improve living conditions in the urban commune of Anjozorobe, in the Analamanga region. This year, the delegation will mark a new milestone with the extension of its activities to the commune of Ambararatabe, located in the Bongolava region.

According to Denis Briche, President of the Association, « Since 2007, AMIF has improved access to drinking water and sanitation for 90% of the 27,000 inhabitants of Anjozorobe ». Its infrastructure network includes 35 reservoirs, 20 manual wells, six solar-powered wells, 237 standpipes, as well as several toilet blocks and wash houses. The association has also supported local economic development through beekeeping and raising gasy chickens, in addition to its numerous educational initiatives.

« In 2023, AMIF provided 700 CP1 students with textbooks and distributed 700 trilingual dictionaries. The following year, all CP2 classes received innovative reading corners, and preschool classes were equipped with interactive teaching materials, including solar-powered radio cards containing stories and songs in Malagasy and French », he added.

The April visit will feature the inauguration of the town’s second water tower, the delivery of a drinking water supply network for 800 residents of Andranokotona, and the provision of medical equipment to the Anjozorobe hospital.

The association is expanding its scope of operations by establishing a presence in Ambararatabe, where it plans to deliver the first drinking water access infrastructure to the village of Ambahatra. More than 2,200 villagers and three primary schools will benefit from a structured network of 17 km of pipes, three spring catchments, 25 standpipes, and several latrines.

Supported by several partners, AMIF continues its commitment to sustainable development, ensuring viable and long-lasting infrastructure for the Malagasy population.
