Launch of the 2025 National Water Week
Despite an improvement in the rate of access to drinking water, which increased from 43% in 2018 to 55.8% in 2024, Madagascar continues to face a significant challenge.
While this progress is encouraging, it remains insufficient to meet the growing needs of the population, particularly due to population growth and the effects of climate change.
In this context, the National Water Week, scheduled for April 16-18, 2025, at the BAREA Mahamasina Stadium in Antananarivo, is a key opportunity to discuss solutions. The event, officially launched on April 14 by the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (MEAH), is held under the theme “Valorizing Water Resources for Sustainable Development.”
This week will be an opportunity for public authorities, donors, NGOs, the private sector, and civil society to work together to improve access to drinking water. Technical discussions and panels will address current challenges, while exhibits will enable the general public and decision-makers to better understand water-related issues.
The aim of this event is to strengthen national commitment to ensuring access to drinking water for all, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
