2027 Island Games: China to support the Comoros

Azali Assoumani receives the Chinese Ambassador

China reaffirms its commitment to the Comoros through a series of major projects, particularly in preparation for the 2027 Indian Ocean Island Games.

During an audience granted by President Azali Assoumani, Chinese Ambassador Guo Zhijun announced increased support for the country’s development, focused on sports and social infrastructure. Discussions focused on bilateral cooperation, the global geopolitical situation, and two major milestones: the organization of the Regional Games and the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Comoros’ independence.

In this spirit, Beijing plans to build gymnasiums and a swimming pool that meet international standards. “China will not miss any opportunity to support the successful organization of these Games,” the ambassador assured, emphasizing the role of sport in regional integration and the Comoros’ influence.

But the cooperation doesn’t stop there. The Diplomat also discussed Chinese support in the education, culture, and justice sectors, echoing the national priorities of the Comorian government.

Internationally, Guo Zhijun welcomed the alignment of visions between the two countries on the issues of economic stability and territorial sovereignty. The official was accompanied by his colleague Ke Liqui, demonstrating the continued Chinese diplomatic presence in the archipelago.
