Removal of quota for hiring foreign workers

Various actions are being taken to support the export sector in Mauritius. Notably, the recruitment of foreign workers has gained attention.

Charles Harel, President of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), highlighted this during the Business Mauritius press conference. According to him, this measure will enhance the business environment. The decision to remove the quota for hiring foreign workers in the fields of ICT, BPO, and manufacturing has been well-received. However, economic operators are advocating for the extension of this measure to other sectors.

Charles Harel also mentioned the positive reception of the measures announced regarding digitalization. Jacqueline Sauzier, Secretary-General of the Chamber of Agriculture, expressed approval for the announced changes to the rules for recruiting agricultural workers, emphasizing their importance for the sector.
