Msomo na Hazi Program : 20 Young Apprentices Honored

Nine Months of Rigorous Carpentry Training

After nine months of rigorous carpentry training, 20 young trainees were celebrated for obtaining their certificates of completion. This action represents the pilot phase of the Msomo na Hazi project, which will be extended to other islands to combat unemployment.

A recognition ceremony was held in the multipurpose hall of Fomboni to celebrate 20 young carpentry apprentices, marking the end of their training. The event brought together members of the island’s governorate, leaders of the Msomo na Hazi program, as well as delegates from the Ministry of Vocational Training.

Over nine months, these trainees gained practical experience in five workshops located on the island of Mwali. These include the Mkandra Meuble workshop in Fomboni, the Twamaya Meuble workshop established in Foundi Assane and Madi Saandi, the Wanani Meuble workshop run by Iliassa Mouhoudhoir in Wanani, as well as the Mdjikaye and Mtrawiya Meuble workshops.

According to the program coordinator, initially, several youths were selected for this vocational training, but only 20 of them managed to complete it. « It is imperative that these young people secure jobs to support their families and contribute to the nation’s development. That is why we have established an organization named Sowo la Hazi on the three islands to support them in this new phase of their journey ».
