Financial awareness fair for enterprises
In partnership with companies from Chengdu Province, China, to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Enterprise Seychelles Agency (ESA) has organized a trade fair for Seychellois entrepreneurs.
The expo aligns with the inaugural direct charter flight from Chengdu to Seychelles, operated by Sichuan Airlines, scheduled for next week. Approximately 34 Chinese companies are expected to arrive on this flight to showcase their products and establish closer ties with local businesses.
Lisa Lautoy, ESA’s Chief Executive Officer, stated, « Seychellois companies have reported challenges in establishing direct connections with suppliers in China. These businesses seek direct contact without the need for intermediaries. We believe this is the perfect opportunity for these companies to strengthen relationships and explore various innovative equipment options that can enhance creativity, especially in product development ».
The exhibition has attracted significant interest in agricultural equipment from Chinese exhibitors. However, other sectors such as manufacturing, tourism and hospitality, beekeeping, and crafts will also be represented.
For Global Entrepreneurship Week, Jeevan Palani, Director General of Policy, Entrepreneurship, and Industry, announced that alongside the trade fair, several other events are planned. On Monday, a financial awareness fair will explore funding opportunities available in Seychelles. Representatives from banks, government entities offering financial resources, ESA’s seed capital program, and other organizations will be present. The ministry is currently addressing various challenges faced by entrepreneurs, with access to financing being one of the key concern
