Comorian Women Motivate the Next Generation to Start Businesses

On March 18, 2025, at the University Institute of Technology (IUT), a landmark event was held to mark International Women’s Day, in partnership with the Production, Industrialization, and Free Trade Support Program (Apile).

The objective was to highlight the role of women in entrepreneurship and economic development, while providing a platform for students to share experiences. Among the speakers, Anazra Mohamed, a graduate with a double master’s degree in finance and economics, shared her inspiring story. A former UN employee, she left her position to found Comores Moringa, a company specializing in the production and sale of moringa-based products. Her products, exported internationally, are a striking example of resilience.

Faissati Ali Mdahoma, another Comorian entrepreneur, shared her story. After 18 years at Comores Telecom, the woman started her own spice business. Thanks to Apile, she was able to learn how to manage her own business.

Abdoulanziz Said Attoumani, coordinator of the Apile program, closed the meeting by addressing the students’ concerns. The manager noted that, although Comorian products have limited visibility, advertising campaigns are underway to promote them while ensuring their quality. This conference not only celebrated the contribution of women entrepreneurs but also encouraged students to seize local opportunities to contribute to the economic development of the Comoros.
