QMM: 13.7 million USD for the Malagasy State

Another step towards economic collaboration

On April 3, 2025, QMM paid a dividend of 13.7 million USD to the Malagasy government during the quarterly meeting of the Board of Directors in Fort-Dauphin.

This amount is divided into two parts: USD 1.7 million from the 2023 financial results and USD 12 million as an exceptional dividend, taken from the retained earnings from the 2023 financial year.

Since 2024, management of the government’s shares in QMM has been transferred to the Malagasy Sovereign Fund SA (FSM), which replaced OMNIS. This change aims to improve investment management and facilitate relations with local and foreign investors.

Isabelle Wabete, Chairwoman of the company’s Board of Directors, emphasized the importance of this gesture. “This payment demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to Madagascar,” she said.

Rasolondraibe Tsiresy, Acting Director General of the FSM, stated that this transfer of management strengthens governance and better manages state resources. Rakotomalala Fanja, President of Rio Tinto QMM, confirmed that all the conditions were met for this payment, highlighting the company’s sound financial health.

This dividend demonstrates QMM’s commitment to Madagascar’s economic development, with direct benefits for the local communities of the Anôsy region.
