An awareness campaign launched in Rivière-du-Rempart
On the occasion of World Oral Health Day, celebrated annually on March 20, the Mauritian Ministry of Health launched an awareness campaign among primary school students.
This initiative resulted in the distribution of hygiene kits at Bheewa Mahadoo School in Rivière-du-Rempart, under this year’s theme: « A happy mouth is a happy mind ». The Minister of Health, Anil Bachoo, addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of good oral hygiene from an early age. « It is necessary to educate children on the importance of proper dental hygiene and regular dental visits », he emphasized.
This early education is an effective way to prevent disease and encourage good dental health throughout life. According to the Minister, « the distribution of kits aims not only to raise awareness among children, but also to encourage them to pass on these good practices to their loved ones ».
Anil Bachoo also reiterated that his ministry is implementing initiatives such as awareness campaigns, regular visits by professionals to schools, and mobile caravans to provide quality care to students. He also warned against the dangers associated with excessive sugar and tobacco consumption, encouraging students to adopt healthy eating habits and engage in regular physical activity.
