Making primary healthcare centers greener

The photovoltaic system at Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle generates 3,200 kilowatt-hours of electricity. On Monday, June 3, 2024, Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal, officially inaugurated the system.

The event was attended by notable figures including the Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Mahen Kumar Seeruttun, the Minister of Industrial Development, SMEs, and Cooperatives, Naveena Ramyad, the Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, Georges Pierre Lesjongard, among others.

In his inaugural speech, the Minister of Health praised the project as part of the government’s initiatives to promote the transition to environmentally friendly and sustainable energy sources. He also thanked the International Solar Alliance (ISA) for supporting this project.

Dr. Kailesh Jagutpal highlighted that the ISA was established to unite the efforts of India and France in combating climate change through solar energy solutions. The ISA Care initiative, launched in October 2020, aims to make primary healthcare centers greener in the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) member countries, including Mauritius.
