Energy Crisis : Accelerated Delivery of Solar Panels

Prime Minister Engages On-Site

The Prime Minister has expedited the clearance process at Toamasina port for essential materials needed to establish the solar park, aiming to resolve power outages in the RIA (Antananarivo Interconnected Network).

This directive also applies to the engines of the 105-megawatt thermal power plant set to be installed in Ambohimanambola. Prime Minister Christian Ntsay has set a firm deadline for the deployment of solar park equipment with a total capacity of 50 megawatts to be transported out of Toamasina port, with 20 megawatts dedicated to reinforcing the power supply of the Antananarivo Interconnected Network (RIA).

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, a « firm deadline » was given for executing these instructions, which were conveyed during a meeting held in Toamasina on Monday. The meeting emphasized the « rapid » implementation of the President’s directives, focusing on accelerating the solar park installation, particularly the urgent 20-megawatt contribution to the RIA.

« As President, I have appointed collaborators at various levels. When I issue instructions, it’s their responsibility to follow through », stated President Andry Rajoelina in an interview aired Sunday on public television. While previously reserved on the issues of water and electricity shortages, the Prime Minister has now visited the site to ensure the prompt execution of the President’s orders from Iavoloha.
