University of Antananarivo: Modernization of the Japanese Language Laboratory

Japan strengthens educational cooperation with Madagascar

A donation of 66 715 EUR, signed on 13 February 2025, is being used to renovate the Japanese language learning center at the University of Antananarivo, with the aim of enriching teaching and increasing the number of learners.

The donation is part of the Japanese cooperation program  « Donations to local micro-projects contributing to human security ». The aim is to support local education and development initiatives.

The project aims to renovate the center, created in 2016, whose infrastructure has deteriorated over the years. The Japanese government therefore purchased new teaching equipment and renovated the lab.

This initiative aims to provide a more modern and functional learning environment, specifically designed for the teaching of hearing skills in Japanese. The planned improvements should diversify teaching methods and thus enrich students’ knowledge, while making this learning more accessible.

The aim is to strengthen the place of the Japanese language at the University of Antananarivo and encourage more students to enroll in it. Through this initiative, Japan reaffirms its commitment to strengthening cultural and educational ties between the two countries and to supporting the development of higher education in Madagascar.
