Engaging young listeners with books
Yesterday, book enthusiasts embarked on a new chapter with the launch of the radio show Koko & Friends on RDJ 96.6, in collaboration with the Let’s Read project.
To inspire a love for reading among children, a new era has begun with the creation of a radio program that is both entertaining and educational. This innovative show aims to ignite young listeners’ interest in books and reading. The official launch of the program, held in partnership with the « Let’s Read » project, took place during a press conference at the Analakely Municipal Library.
Every Wednesday, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, « Koko & Friends » invites children to explore a fascinating world filled with fun and adventure. Three weekly segments will offer a full immersion into the world of books and discovery. The segment « E-Booky » will also help children acquire vocabulary in Malagasy, French, and English while introducing them to the digital world through conversations with book lovers.
Since the program’s inception, over thirty copies, including a Braille version, have been distributed for free in public schools, orphanages, and institutions for visually and hearing-impaired children in Madagascar. Aiming to reach as many children as possible, the project plans to broadcast RDJ in Antananarivo, Mahajanga, Toamasina, and Antsirabe. The Koko & Friends series offers a memorable radio experience where every child can learn while having fun. This initiative marks a potential revolution in the education of young Malagasy children.
