With hundreds of billions of dollars in assets and global investments, Forbes has this year profiled the wealthiest individuals in Francophone Africa, including three Malagasy businessmen: Ylias Akbaraly, chairman of Redland Company Holding; Hassanein Hiridjee, chairman of Axian Group; and Hasnaine Yavarhoussen, CEO of Filatex Group. These entrepreneurs’ investments in Madagascar and beyond provide thousands of jobs and funds for industries as diverse as the economy.
Ylias Akbaraly, through his company Redland Company Holding, is ranked first in Madagascar and fourth in Francophone Africa. Forbes highlights his successful investments, particularly in sectors such as real estate. According to Forbes, this is a sector where investments have grown significantly, with assets totaling over 1.2 billion USD. Major contracts are also in the works, including one worth over 1 billion USD in the digitalization sector, according to the magazine. Hassanein Hiridjee, CEO of Axian Group, is another prominent business magnate in the Indian Ocean and Africa.
Forbes describes Hasnaine Yavarhoussen, CEO of Filatex Group, as the embodiment of a new generation of African entrepreneurs who combine innovation, social responsibility, and commitment to a sustainable future. The businessman, known for his involvement in the arts, also leads one of the country’s largest groups, active in high-end real estate, energy, and franchises.
