60th anniversary of UNCTAD : Madagascar aims to advocate its ambitions

At the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, the Minister of Industrialization and Commerce highlighted the significance of the Malagasy delegation’s presence.

The Minister aims to voice his opinions and participate actively in debates and decision-making. This event offers an opportunity to enhance Madagascar’s global standing and influence within the organization. The gathering, named the International Leaders Forum, was referred to by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as a « Summit of the Future » in his opening speech.

Minister Razafindravahy emphasized that Madagascar has established development goals and a vision for achieving them. President Andry Rajoelina also addressed the importance of industrialization in his speech at the UNCTAD anniversary celebration.

The Minister noted that Madagascar seeks financial and technical partnerships to support its progress toward these goals. UNCTAD’s mission is to provide technical assistance to its members to help them leverage the economic opportunities of globalization.
