Strengthening diplomatic ties and exploring new opportunities
The leaders of Seychelles and the Maldives met to strengthen diplomatic ties. They discussed tourism, environmental protection, air connectivity, capacity building, and maritime safety.
At the International Conference of Small Island Developing States in Antigua and Barbuda, President Wavel Ramkalawan of Seychelles and Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu held bilateral talks. They emphasized the excellent relations between Seychelles and the Maldives and the importance of addressing the real concerns affecting small islands.
« Since July 1980, our countries have collaborated in many areas, both bilaterally and multilaterally. Our meeting today is a perfect opportunity to build on our achievements and strengthen our efforts », said Ramkalawan, referencing a visit to the Maldives in June last year.
Muizzu echoed Ramkalawan’s sentiments, highlighting the strong relations between the islands and expressing interest in enhancing diplomatic ties and exploring new opportunities.
