Simplifying travel between the two nations

Last week, a visa exemption agreement was signed between Seychelles and Lebanon to strengthen their already friendly and bilateral relations.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, « Under the agreement, any individual holding a passport from either country will be exempt from needing a visa. This initiative aims to simplify citizens’ travel between Seychelles and Lebanon ».

The Permanent Representative of Seychelles to the United Nations, Ambassador Ian Madeleine, and the Chargé d’Affaires of Lebanon’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Hadi Hachem, officiated the signing ceremony in New York.

While entry to Seychelles a picturesque archipelago in the western Indian Ocean does not typically require a visa, all tourists must obtain travel authorization via the Seychelles Electronic Border System before arrival.

As of the first quarter of 2024, the Seychelles passport remains the most powerful on the African continent, climbing three spots in Henley & Partners’ global rankings. The Seychelles now ranks 26th globally for the first quarter of 2024, compared to its 2023 position. Seychelles citizens can visit 153 countries visa-free.
