Seychelles – Japan : Inauguration of the New Japanese Ambassador

Strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries

Sakuta Makoto was presented as the new Japanese Ambassador to Seychelles by the President of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, during a credential presentation ceremony.

Ambassador Makoto is the first Japanese envoy stationed locally, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations between the two countries. According to a press release from the presidential palace, President Ramkalawan expressed his gratitude to Makoto for his appointment, highlighting the strong friendship and cooperation between Seychelles and Japan. The President thanked Japan for its crucial contributions to Seychelles’ development over time and expressed optimism about enhancing the partnership.

Ambassador Makoto, expressing his gratitude and honor to be in this position, committed to strengthening cooperation between the two countries. The discussions during the meeting focused on consolidating collaboration in essential areas, particularly maritime security, fishing, environmental preservation, and climate change.

Both parties reiterated their desire to strengthen their ties for shared prosperity. Makoto’s appointment as Ambassador underscores Japan’s increasing involvement in its relations with Seychelles.
