Seychelles – India : Agreement on Information Sharing

Establishment of a collaboration platform

An agreement has been concluded between Seychelles and India to promote training opportunities and information sharing between the offices of the Auditor General of both countries.

The agreement was signed by Gamini Herath, Auditor General of Seychelles, and Chandra Murmu, Comptroller and Auditor General of India. The two institutions will benefit from a collaboration platform to exchange knowledge and experiences among audit professionals and strengthen their audit capabilities.

Speaking to the participants at the event, Herath expressed his sincere hope that the memorandum of understanding would foster better training opportunities, information sharing, the exchange of fruitful ideas, and the sharing of resources between the two Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs).

For more than 40 years, the two organizations have collaborated, with over 50 Seychelles auditors receiving training under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program. According to Herath, many experts have shared their expertise in the public and private sectors. Furthermore, Murmu emphasized the importance of audit bodies and their compliance with international standards.

Both countries are affiliated with the Supreme Audit Institutions of Public Finances (SAIs) and the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). During his official visit to the small island state, Chandra also held meetings with the President of the National Assembly, Roger Mancienne, and the Chair of the Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) of the National Assembly, Sébastien Pillay, who is also the leader of the opposition in the institution.
