Strengthening Rwanda-Seychelles cooperation
Fatou Harerimana assumes her role as the new High Commissioner of Rwanda to Seychelles, presenting her credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan at the State House on February 20, 2024.
A significant diplomatic exchange occurred with Rwandan President Paul Kagame’s state visit to Seychelles last year, paving the way for enhanced cooperation. Since then, multiple memoranda of understanding have been signed, bolstering ties between the two nations. A mutual visa exemption for travelers from both countries has been established.
« We discussed the robust bilateral cooperation between our nations. Following our president’s visit, numerous agreements were reached, and now we are focused on implementing these protocols », states the newly accredited High Commissioner.
« Memoranda have been signed to foster collaboration in health, agriculture, tourism, investment, defense, and security. Additionally, we have mutually waived visa requirements, allowing seamless travel between Rwanda and Seychelles », shares the new High Commissioner proudly.
During her tenure, High Commissioner Harerimana aims to advance development across all sectors. « Seychelles has achieved remarkable success in tourism, while in Rwanda, we are just beginning to invest in this sector. We look forward to leveraging Seychelles’ expertise to develop our tourism industry », remarks High Commissioner.
President Ramkalawan congratulates the new High Commissioner, underscoring her accreditation as a testament to the strong commitment between Seychelles and Rwanda to deepen bilateral relations and elevate cooperation to unprecedented levels.
