Presentation of credentials to Prince Albert II

Discussions on the Blue Economy Between the Parties

The resident Ambassador of Seychelles in Brussels, Racombo, presented his credentials to His Highness Albert II, Prince of Monaco, at the Princely Palace on February 12, 2024.

Discussions between Ambassador Racombo and Prince Albert II mainly focused on the blue economy. Including the progress Seychelles is making in developing the sector and the prince’s recent visit to Seychelles in October 2022.

Prince Albert II commended Seychelles’ active involvement in the Monaco Blue Initiatives and looked forward to the 2024 edition scheduled for March. The ambassador provided an update on Seychelles’ unique marine planning process and highlighted Seychelles’ success in designating 30% of its exclusive economic zone (EEZ) as protected marine areas. Both parties reiterated the need to strengthen ocean governance.

The economic situation of both countries and efforts to overcome existing challenges, particularly those resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, were also discussed. Prince Albert II expressed his compliments to the President and people of Seychelles and congratulated the Seychelles government for its prestigious work in environmental protection.

Ambassador Racombo seized the opportunity to reiterate the Seychelles government’s wish to further deepen the long-standing cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest discussed during their meeting.
