Visit to strengthen diplomatic relations
In a bid to fortify diplomatic relations, China’s Ambassador to Seychelles, Lin Nan, engaged in a significant meeting with the President of the National Assembly, Roger Mancienne, last Friday.
During their meeting, Ambassador Lin expressed her honor in serving as the 16th Ambassador of China to Seychelles. She eagerly anticipated bolstering the already strong ties between the two nations, with a particular focus on enhancing people-to-people relations.
The envoy highlighted the emergency assistance provided by the Chinese Embassy following the December 7 disaster. In addition to material aid, Chinese engineers were recruited to contribute to the assessment and reconstruction efforts. Ambassador Lin outlined her tenure’s key goal, to foster cooperation and development through new projects, centering on social housing, capacity building, and environmentally sustainable advancements.
Emphasizing the importance of legislative cooperation and maintaining a positive relationship, the ambassador underlined the need for collaboration on new projects. The Seychellois representative echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the enduring bilateral cooperation between Seychelles and China as a commendable model of friendship, irrespective of the countries’ sizes.
Shared concerns about democracy, social welfare, and economic growth underscored the meeting. As a gesture of gratitude, the host concluded the session by presenting Ambassador Lin Nan with a token of appreciation.
